Moving in

How moving in works.

Five steps, and a straight answer at each one. If we're not the right fit, we'll tell you early and help you find a place that is.

  1. Send us a message, or call

Describe an ordinary day for your loved one: what they do on their own, what they need help with, and anything that worries you. You'll get an honest first answer.

  2. Send the paperwork

We need these before an in-person assessment:

    • A physical assessment (AHCA Form 1823), completed by their primary care doctor
    • A current medication list
    • Psychiatric notes, if relevant
    • Income statements
    • For managed-care residents: the plan’s approval letter, plus the case manager’s name and phone number
  3. Meet in person

If the paperwork fits, we meet your loved one for an in-person assessment. Want to see the home first? Tours are by appointment on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 2:00 to 3:30pm.

  4. Agree the plan, then move in

We explain exactly what the monthly rate covers, and whether any additional support is needed, before anything is added. Then we plan move-in day together.

  5. Move-in day

We start by signing the contract and completing the admission paperwork, before belongings go into the room. Allow 40 to 60 minutes for the paperwork and your questions. The resident’s share of the rent, and any admission amount, is due on move-in day.

What to bring: just clothes, toiletries and the personal things that make a room feel like home. We provide the bed, sheets, pillow and a chest of drawers.

Paying for care

Ways to pay.

  • Florida Medicaid long-term-care waiver, through Florida Community Care, Sunshine, Humana or Simply
  • Social Security or SSI, paid directly
  • Long-term-care insurance
  • Private pay

Medicare does not pay for assisted living, though it can help put psychiatric and social-work support in place. VA Aid & Attendance is not accepted at this time. If a Medicaid application is still pending, tell us on your first call.

What's included

One all-inclusive monthly rate.

Every family's needs are different, so we walk you through the rate on the phone rather than print a headline figure. Here is everything it covers.

Room and home

  • A shared or private room, with a shared closet
  • Bed, mattress, sheets, blanket, pillow and chest of drawers
  • Internet, utilities, water and maintenance
  • Shared bathrooms in both buildings
  • TV in the common areas. Furniture from home is welcome with prior approval, depending on what it is and whether it fits the room
A 10-second look around a shared room

Care and daily life

  • Three meals and a snack a day, on a four-week menu planned by a registered dietitian
  • Medication management
  • Help arranging transportation to medical appointments
  • The weekly activities and the monthly Big Event
  • Housekeeping and laundry, one day a week each
  • Staff supervision around the clock, with awake staff checking on residents overnight

If more support is needed

After an assessment, if your loved one needs care beyond this list, there may be an additional fee. We explain exactly what it covers before anything is added. A primary care doctor, a social worker and a psychiatrist visit regularly, and residents can keep their own doctor.
